Prophet David Mbewe who is the leader of Freedom of Worship and Economic Liberation (FOWEL) is warning the government against abusing resources meant for Cyclone Freddy survivours.
Mbewe says; "Alerted by experience on how Covid-19 money was ruthlessly plundered by government officials, I am warning government officials who are salivating to make fortunes out of this disaster to refrain from it. Hands off cyclone money."
The FOWEL leader argues that President Lazarus Chakwera's visits to camps and other affected areas may be draining resources due to his bloated entourage consisting ministers and some senior government officials.
He therefore suggests that; "Chakwera must appoint one minister among his cabinet to oversee this."
Cyclone Freddy induced death toll is currently at 360 with several other people still missing and President Chakwera has called on all stakeholders to unite in this hardest moment.
