Singer, Loiso

Popping Afrobeat musician Loiso made an appearance on Groove 100 FM this past Monday, where he shared insights into his rapid ascent following the viral success of his hit single, "Liva."

Addressing long-standing comparisons to fellow artist Onesmus (African Butter), Loiso was quick to establish his own musical identity. “I don’t copy Onesmus’s singing style; we simply both belong to the same genre,” he clarified, dismissing claims that his sound is derivative.

Loiso described the ongoing debate regarding their similarities as a "topic of interest" rather than a conflict. He recalled his first meeting with Onesmus at an event hosted by DJ Megi, characterizing the encounter as a positive and respectful experience. While he remained tight-lipped regarding a potential collaboration between the two Afrobeat stars, he teased the audience by suggesting that the future remains full of possibilities.

Reflecting on his career trajectory over the past year, a stylish Loiso—donning a hand-striped white shirt—shared a lighthearted metaphor for his sudden fame. “Last January and this January feel like a dream,” he remarked. “I would be angry if anyone woke me from this sweet dream.”

On the one hour long interview,  the Liva crooner was hosted by  Mbumba, a brilliant interviewer who brought the best out of her guests on the platform.
