The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) President Fleetwood Haiya has opened a case in court against his predecessor, Walter Nyamilandu, for what he calls false accusations and defamation of character.

Recently, the former FAM boss, now a Member of Parliament for the ruling DPP, made a guest appearance on a podcast called Face2Face where he said that his successor, Haiya, was put on the position by the former rulling party (MCP) officials.

The former Mighty Wanderers player also alleged that Haiya is misusing the football governing body's resources.

Confirming to media, Haiya's lawyer, Blackstone Chambers, said that his  client is demanding the retraction of the statements made on the podacst, an apology, and a compensation of MK200 million.

Fleetwood Haiya defeated Walter Nyamilandu with 23 votes against 13 on 16 December 2023 FAM elections.

As of now, the media and the general public are waiting to hear from Walter Nyamilandu's legal team.
