Hip-hop sensation Spark Liko – real name Thomson Msiska – says his about to be released extended play (EP) has themes of sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) at its core.

“I am now taking my art to another level,” Spark Liko told MalawiHeat. “I think it is time for me to entertain while I tackle and teach on certain pertinent social topics including SGBV.”

The EP, titled ‘Unspoken Voice’, simply has four songs.

“It is one [the EP] that is deceptively simple. It is not the number of the songs but the weight of the messages and, on top of it all, the creativity I want to dish out to my fans,” he said.

According to the artist-cum-social activist the EP will be ready in March.

“It’s high time,” he said. “We need to fight SGBV against SGBV.”

The music project has been sponsored Together for Change CSO – a local NGO that engages boys and young men in ending child marriages and sexual violence against girls.
