Theo Thomson: The response has been great, i'm blessed to make music that people respond to, relate to and aknowledge. theres a way to go but i'm appreciative of all the positive feedback i've received.
MalawiHeat: What was your inspiration for this project, where were you trying to go musically?
Theo Thomson: In an industry flooded with everyone trying so hard to be the rebel I found inspiration in women, lol. Basically. I write alot of love songs, it is the ingredient for the greatest songs ever made.
Who handled the production on this project? I was heavily in the production of this project, I had a vision and knew who understood me and my intentions, so I called in the likes of Yesaya and canny one for the bulk of it.
MalawiHeat: You are known for pushing the boundaries when it comes to music videos in Malawi, what videos can we expect from you this year?
Theo Thomson: I believe if it doesn't challenge you, it doesn't change you. I'm always looking to create visuals not yet seen in our region and doing the best we can with what we have available to us, I've been shooting 3 videos for the gypsy;awake project this last month and I'm looking forward to sharing it with everyone.
MalawiHeat: You run the music label Matalala Records, what do you look for when choosing artists to join?
Theo Thomson: Most important thing for me is sharing the vision, there's tonnes of talent in malawi but if we all competing against each other we don't grow. Our industry needs unity, it's bigger than the individual and that's a trait we all need to adopt if we're to get any kind of recognition on an international stage.
MalawiHeat: The Malawian music Industry is growing, anything you like so far?
Theo Thomson: I like that we're not tryna be like Americans, we've found our identity and we embrace it. We're heading in the right direction with a way to go.
MalawiHeat: What Malawian Artists do you Listen to?
Theo Thomson: I listen to me. Lol I gotta be critical and improve constantly so I really focus on my lane.
