People have gone for scholarships. Outside Malawi. They have come back. No impact.

But, today, we celebrate one of such. A Fulbright Scholarship is not a stone's throw joke. It is massive.

And there is a name accompanied to that Fulbright Program - Noel Mhone, a passionate innovator turning knowledge into impact.

A professional teacher Kefas Kuwali, of Karonga St Mary's Girls Secondary School, said Mhone has applied his advanced education technology to meet a myriad of aspects as far as education in Malawi is concerned.

'The apps and websites he has developed are are a phenomenon. As teachers we are are widely using these, as well as students to access educational and other resources,' said Kuwali, a linguist.

As a Chemist at the Ministry of Mining, Mhone is also contributing to Malawi’s mining sector through mineral analysis, research, and support for policy implementation.

Last Thursday, had a wonderful online meeting with the Headteacher and teachers of Chembera CDSS, located in Balaka under the South East Education Division. The school has decided to start using his School Management System.

'What a great tool this system has become! It can generate school report cards, lesson plans, schemes of work, school timetables, and so much more. It can also assist school departments with subject allocation and many other administrative tasks,' triumphed Mhone after the meeting.

He added: 'To be honest, sometimes I find myself forgetting some of the features I have added to the system because there are simply so many of them!

'It is exciting to see something I built some years ago, and significantly improved a few months ago, now being embraced by schools and teachers.

This motivates me to keep improving the system and adding more tools that can make school administration and teaching easier, more efficient, and more organised.'
