Veteran musician Lulu has gifted a lump sum of half a million kwacha to a poor young woman from Thyolo who gave birth to quadruplets in Chikwawa. The "Magwiragwira" song maker has also vowed to donate a percentage of his earnings from every December performance to the new mother.
Lulu said that he understands the pressure of being a parent to newborn babies, let alone becoming a mother of four at once.
"She will be getting allowances similar to those of my band staff members throughout the month of December. The money is for her and the four little angels," said the Mathumela band leader.
Lulu, through the Zodiak Broadcasting Station journalist who broke the news, reached out to the new mother to deliver the said amount.
Lulu has recently also made it into the news for organising a campaign to raise money amounting to 10 million kwacha for another veteran musician, Sir Paul Banda, to seek medical attention for his chronic kidney failure illness.
