Chimwemwe Idana & Gwamba |
Gwamba, who stylishly brands himself as Malawian hip-hop landlord,
has come out to openly criticize Nyasa Big Bullets Football Club for failing to
meet its former captain, Chimwemwe Idana’s 8 million contract renewal demand.
Through his official Facebook page, the “Ma Photo” rapper
could not hold his disappointment towards the people’s team for letting go of
the midfield maestro.
“I’m supporting Idana on this one”, commented Gwamba on
Nyasa Big Bullets post.
“Football is a short career and yet players in this country
get paid peanuts. He surely deserves the contract he was asking for and it’s
good for him to go and find it somewhere else. Good luck my captain.”, reads the
rest of the comment.
Chimwemwe Idana made his debut for Bullets FC in 2018 after
being promoted from the team’s reserve side by head coach Calisto Pasuwa.
In 2021 super league season, the Malawi national team
midfielder won the player of the season award.
Idana is nicknamed Gattuso by maule because of his similarities
in skillsets with former Italian footballer, Gennaro Ivan Gattuso.
He has left the most successful club in the country after a
failed new contract deal that could see the 24 year-old earn 200 thousand
kwacha per week and 8 million kwacha contract renewal fee.
