The Africa Union Sports Council AUSC organized a cultural night on the night of Wednesday December 7 amidst the ongoing Region 5 Youth Games at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe.
Of the 13 participating nations, 10 nations showcased their cultural activities.
Minister of Tourism and Culture, Michael Usi hailed the decision of having the night as it has given the youths a chance to know about their culture.
"When we talk about culture we are talking about ourselves and today because of modernization our culture is under threat. Best of education most youths think western culture is superior so we are calling upon them as they display the African culture they should do it with pride," Usi said.
In his remarks, minister of youth and sports, Richard Chimwendo Banda said the cultural night has shown the unity and similarities in most African cultures. He further said that this means that Africa is one and must be united.
Launched on December 3 Region 5 Youth Games will run untill 11 December.
