A 8 year-old girl identified as Roster Mphande has died after being hit by a motor vehicle at estate 81 along Kasungu - Mzimba M1 road. The accident occurred on August 7, 2022 around 18:00 hours.
The accident which involved Toyota Passo, registration number NU 8671 was being driven by Moses Kanguwe from the direction of Mzimba heading towards Kasungu boma.
Upon arrival at estate 81, due to overspeeding, Kanguwe lost control of the vehicle and hit the pedestrian who was crossing the road from left to right side and the vehicle swerved to the extreme offside verge.
Following the impact Roster died on the spot due to severe head injuries and multiple fractures while the driver sustained chest pains and is admitted at Kasungu District Hospital.
Police in the district are advising road users to adhere to all road traffic rules and regulations to avoid occurrence of preventable road accidents.
