A 52-year-old man identified as Godfrey Chakoma has committed suicide by hanging himself after he picked a quarrel with his wife.
The incident happened on July 1, 2022 at around 03:00 hours at Mtira Village, Traditional Authority Nankumba in Mangochi.
MonkeyBay Police station public relations officer sergeant Alice Sichali confirmed about the incident.
According to Sichali Godfrey Chakoma and his wife have been at parallels and the disagreements existed for over a long time.
The couple had a fight where Chakoma stabbed his wife with a knife and left her unconscious.
Following the condition of his wife, Chakoma went inside his bedroom where he hanged himself.
Monkey Bay Police detectives visited the scene and took the dead body to Monkey Bay Community Hospital where, after postmortem, it was revealed that the death was due to suffocation.
Meanwhile, the widow is receiving treatment at Monkey Bay Community Hospital.
Chakoma hailed from Mtira Village, Traditional Authority Nankumba in Mangochi District.
