In what can be described as
a show of great respect and admiration to a Malawian artist, an unknown top fan
of celebrated musician Gwamba – born Duncan Zgambo – has tattooed the latter’s
name on his hand.
The ‘Better’ hitmaker, who is also Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for the Shepherd Bushiri Foundation, said he was wowed by the feeling that one of his own fans could reach to the extent of doing that.
He said on Wednesday,
September 1, 2021 – through his official Facebook page – that he had woken up to
several messages about a great fan who had tattooed ‘Gwamba’ on his hand.
“Honestly, I didn’t know how
to react; my feeling was to get to know this person. Luckily, I got his number
today and we spoke. We had an interesting discussion. I appreciate the way he
has promoted my brand,” Gwamba, also passionate about uplifting fellow youths,
said.
According to him, people
like his fan are the reason there are great artists such as him in the country.
“I am who I am today because
of him and everyone who supports me, as an artist.
“At the same time, what he
has done has reminded me of the impact my music has on the youths in Malawi. I
take this as a chain of honour that I shall guard with responsibility and duty.
“Thank you for the love and thanks to everyone who protects and promotes the Gwamba brand,” said Gwamba.
