Reggae
Dancehall enthusiasts should be excited. Especially those in the commercial
capital Blantyre for there will be a reggae SumFest at Club 24/7 this month-end
– August 28.
That
whole Saturday will be Blantyre turned into Jamaica as the city will be hosting
the first ever Malawian Reggae Festival.
Lilongwe based Producer-cum-Singer, Jah Rhyno, told Reggae265 that there hasn’t been any reggae show as big as to what will happen in Blantyre on August 28.
Actually, Jah Rhyno said,
plans are underway that a similar festival should be held in the capital
Lilongwe before this year ends.
MalawiHeat has learnt that over ten
hot of the country’s reggae and dancehall artists will perform among them Blasto,
Trumel, Don Tarz, Soul Raiders, Jah Rhyno, Simple, Kellie Divine, Queen Fyah,
Tadala, Positive Yut, Mwiza Sambo, Fyah Star, Chizmo Sting, Veda Njuchi, Jimmy
Will and Lesson Offerings Band.
All performances will be
backed by the Tuff Lion Band and the official host are DJ Sypda from Joy Radio,
DJ Chronik from Timveni Radio, Mr Slyk formely of FM 101 and DJ Damex, MalawiHeat.com
understands.
According to organisers,
gates will open at 9 in the morning and patrons will have to partway with K2
000 per head.
Malawi’s SumFest, we have
learnt, is being sponsored by CRS Technologies, Print and Cut, Tuff Lion
Records, Imvaway, and White Sense Photography.
