The album is packed with powerful tracks such as ‘A Gondwe’ that has already taken Malawi’s airwaves by storm. Katimba described his comeback as ‘some sweet news’ for his loyal fans.
“My new album “Nthambi” is now ready. I took all the time needed in the studio to ensure that the production is mature for your listening pleasure and spiritual growth,” said Katimba.
Nthambi has been recorded at Active A Records by one of the proficient producers Amos Mlolowah. It has been officially released today (Monday) for official promotion on airwaves.
Katimba said the title track ‘Nthambi’ is derived from the biblical book of John 15:4 saying “Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.”
And quoting a vernacular biblical John 15:4 Katimba said: “Remember, inu ndi ine ndife Nthambi ya mtengo omwe mulungu anaudzala yekha, ndipo tiyenera kubereka zipat so kut i Nthambi yathu isadulidwe. I thank you all for your prayers and extraordinary support, which have made this album possible,” said Katimba.
Katimba’s previous album Ndidzaimabe had a small weakness in that the instrumentation seemed to have been copied from South African gospel music. However, Nthambi sounds original and a big improvement.
However, the two albums have one thing in common, they blend secular issues with gospel to teach people real life experiences. It is a style unique to Katimba.
