Toyota, Nissan pick-up Malawian model Thembi for Jo’burg International Motor Show

South African based Malawian model Thembi Zimba
set to be brand ambassador for two of the world’s major motor companies – Nissan and Toyota – during the Johannesburg International Motor Show this month, has said the development has earned her a top of the world feeling.

“It’s a huge development,” said Thembi. “And I’m so happy.”

Thembi, who is also Malawi Fashion Week Model 2013, said she got the offer after one of her agents linked her up.

I have an agent who emailed me the job description and asked if she could send my pictures through, I said fine! I was then called for casting, which was in Johannesburg; I booked out of Cape Town to JHB just for the casting!

“It was a risk, but I believe modeling is a gamble; you have to throw the dice and see where it will fall on! I aced the casting and got a booking email from my agent a little less than two weeks after that, the client loved me and I need to keep these dates open!,” She said.

The show, slated for 18 to 27 October, is one of the biggest shows in the world.

Thembi, a student in South Africa, will arguably become one of the few Malawian models to participate in international shows.
