The entertainment industry on joined the Gospel icon, Ethel Kamwendo Banda as she was celebrating her birthday.
The song bird posted to her social media walls beautiful pictures of her with caption
thanking God for blessing her with another year.
" Happy birthday to me. Last year was bit tougher but I was tougher in Jesus Christ. I got through it, and today is start of the promising year. I am looking forward to a fresh start with good things life can throw at me. Thanking you God for taking me this far," says Kamwendo.
She added ; " Jesus you love me too much ooo".
A number of secular artists also took to their social media to celebrate her birthday.
Lucius Banda said ; " Happy birthday to the mother of Malawian music. I can proudly say even me found you in the game. May God keep blessing you".
In his post, Lulu expressed that time he started listening to her music was when he was in primary school and his favorite song was " Kilinki Kilinki yoyo" and he used to to sing it on his way and from school.
He added that he was happy that she became her friend.
The comedian, Tanna Mr broken English also left people laughing when he made a joke over it in Broken English.

However, social media users were left their tongues wagging as she did not mention how old she is now. Some people says by looking at her face she might be in her 50s.
Dr Ethel Kamwendo Banda is one of the oldest artists, who started his career as a secular artists before moving to Gospel.
She became so huge when she did Gospel songs such as ; ndi umboni, and ambuye mwatikondela.
Kamwendo has also many albums to her belt.
