Sandile Mkhize, celebrated with stage name DJ Citi Lyts was pronounced dead this today's morning after being attacked by robbers last night at his joint in Vilakazi Street, Soweto.
According to a source close to Citi Lyts’ family, the artist was closing his joint at about 10 pm last night when a group of armed thugs pounced on him and fatally shot him and fled after robbing him of his cash.
Gauteng Police Spokesperson Mavela Masondo said the police were still waiting for the details of the incident.
His father, Zwelakhe Mkhize, said he was unable to comment as he did not have the details.
The rapper, Pro Kid, real name, Linda Mkhize died in 2018 after suffering hemosuccus pancreatitis – which is a rare cause of gastrointestinal bleeding.
Citi Lyts is the man behind hit tracks Washa Washa and Vurra and the little brother of late hip hop icon ProKid.
