His crass lyrics were not just words that musician Joe Gwaladi used to perform, they were a life he lived that in his admonition of prostitutes he was finding solace in young girls.
Reports reaching the media indicate that musician Joe Gwaladi has been arrested by the Police in Phalombe for raping a 14 year old girl. Gwaladi who came to prominence with his song 'Nnafa bulu' after performing in the streets for a long time was nabbed this afternoon by the Police and is currently in custody charged with defilement which carries a sentence of death or life imprisonment. Joe Gwaladi has earned a place among music loving Malawians as a tell-it-all musician who does not mince for words and is not economical with the truth. His arrest follows the footsteps of Thomas Chibade who was once arrested on the charges of defilement but was later acquitted. However with that case appears to have come the end of his career as now he has failed to command an audience like he did back then.
