Malawian musician arrested in Dubai for littering - Pays Fine

Malawian musician  Joseph Alfazema has been released by the police in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, after paying a fine as he was arrested for littering in the public.

He has been in the United Arab Emirates since October last year.
According to published reports, Alfazema was travelling in a commuter from Al Aweer to Deira, before a policeman nabbed him because he was seen chewing bubblegum and littering in the public as the bus was passing Sonapur.
Alfazema, famous for the hit Tilibe Chonena confirmed that he was handcuffed and charged before paying a fine of 200 UAE Dirham (K25 000).
“It is true that I was arrested. As you know, I am not familiar with the laws here as I have been here for three months now. I was arrested for chewing and littering in public. But I paid the fine after they detained me,” said Alfazema as quoted by The Nation newspaper of Malawi on Monday.
“In Malawi, we are used to chewing in public with no consequence. This has made me to start consulting on the laws here so that I am fully acquainted with how it works,” he said.
Alfazema is working for a company involved in the production of concrete blocks and tiles as a plant operator and controls water levels in concrete making machines of the company.
His career has hit the skids due his lack of recording equipment and funds to produce DVDs for sale. He last recorded a video four years ago.
