Venturing into a very competitive trade requires determination, vision and inspiration. And for one to start plying some economic activity in the fashion industry at age 16 is outta this world.
Blantyre based budding and fastest rising fashion designer Jasmine Daudi has defied all odds to conquer the unconquarable territory. She is designer at her own firm Arthur H.O.F.
This writer caught up with her on Friday, April 27 2018 to get to know her in detail far as her motivating vision is concerned.
“I have always been a fashion lover actually, so I cant actually recall exactly how I got into designing…,” she started outlining her fashion designing origins and beginnings. “I could always sew things by hand when I was young. My mom inspired me… she doesn’t design but her fashion statements just got me into the fashion community.”
How does she thrive in such an industry that dominated by big names like Fawzia Osman’s Mkanda Accessorize, Lilly Alfonso and Nzika Wear… just to name three? Here was her reply: “Well,am not into the business side as much because am still establishing myself… I have been learning to design for only two months…and I have two whole years…so for now its mostly practice. “
Jasmine is pursuing her studies at Taris Tailoring and Designing School in Malawi’s commercial capital, Blantyre.
