Historic Blantyre Secondary School (BSS) has elected its fresh alumni committee, and it says it will work towards making sure that the great legacy of the institution is maintained.
BSS has been around for years, and has been one of the celebrated schools since the colonial era.
Publicist for the new executive, Mathews Kapanda, said in an interview with Malawi Heat that they wish to maintain the standards of BSS and that they will, in one way or another, help in fundraising for the school's basic necessities.
Said Kapanda: "That is why we have a director of fundraising who is a very capable person. Our mission is that we want to liase with the BSS management committee so that we understand and appreciate the institution's problems."
According to Kapanda, BSS has contributed a lot to Malawi as a country, and it is imperative that as alumni they work together so that the school continues to perform.
"There are so many of us in various sectors of our society. And our target is that we inspire the next generation by providing them with the most basic commodities that they need in their everyday-to-day school life," he said.
During their last week's elective conference, Safari Mbewe was elected preside while Grey Idi was voted in as vice president and deputy director of fundraising.
