The nominees for the upcoming 2023 Maso Awards, scheduled to take place on November 25 at the Bingu International Convention Centre in Lilongwe, have been announced by the event organizers, headed by Chief Executive Officer Augustine Mukisi. The awards, centered around the theme of 'Towards Wealth Creation and Self Reliance through Arts', have recognized over 135 artists who have made significant contributions to the industry. The voting process commenced on Thursday and will continue until November 24, 2023.
Among the distinguished awards, the renowned musician Sir Paul Banda will be honored with the esteemed Lifetime Achievement Award for his remarkable musical career, while the Maso Humanitarian Award will be presented to the influential social media personality, Pemphero Mphande.
The competition includes various categories, such as Best Artist (Male), which features outstanding nominees including Malinga Mafia, Driemo, Zeze Kingston, Kell Kay, and Eli Njuchi. Similarly, the category of Best Artist (Female) showcases the talent of Kellie Devine Njuchi, Temwa, Tuno, Leslie, and Keturah, all of whom have displayed exemplary artistic prowess.
With the nominees announced and the voting process underway, anticipation is building for the grand event, where these deserving artists will be recognized for their exceptional contributions to the arts and entertainment industry in Malawi.
